Marceline, MO -- A damper dropped from the firebox at the train's locomotive caused the derailment of the four cars of the front section, loaded with New York World's Fair excursionists of the Santa Fe's Chicagoan, about 7 miles west of here, tearing up about 500 feet of east and west-bound track and injuring and shaking up the 97 passengers aboard, with the exception of the three who returned to Kansas City, Missouri. All continued on to Chicago.
