Colorized postcard image of the wooden Santa Fe Depot, 1888
Description
Before the brick depot was built, it was a wooden building. This appears to be a colorize photo that was turned into a postcard, of many people standing in front of the depot, with some people leaning out of the second floor windows.
Also to note, is a smaller building to the right that also appears to be wooden and the partial word "Lunch" visible.
It looks like a lunch room on the right side of the photo… but, were there double-tracks on the park side of the Depot?
I’m thinking there was a wooden lunch room on the NORTH side of the depot, in the area that is the garden in 2026. Plus, there’s a baggage cart to the left of the main entry doors. Of course, there could be a baggage cart on the park side too, but I would expect it to stay close to the main line tracks. Thoughts?
